Cheqta Petroglyphs
In Lima region, at the km 60 of Lima - Canta highway the area of Cheqta can be found. There you can see and check the local museum of Cheqta.
From the highway you have to walk up through a small hill for around 20 minutes until start seeing your firsts petroglyphs.

There you can see dozens of petroglyphs, some of them have some vandalism signs, however, part of the original drawing can be seen.

The archaeological site of Checta, talking about rock art painting, is one of the most important sites in the central coast of Peru. There are over 400 rock paintings which some still have clear and recognizable designs.
The rocks are categorized by groups according to its designs and paintings, being the first group, that has tacitas (small holes in the surface), the oldest of them as they were dated as old as 4000 years old.
